These days, observers of global financial markets would be remiss if they weren’t reconsidering the long term prospects of the US dollar. Dr. Elson responds.

Join Jesse as he talks to the eminent international economist Dr. Anthony Elson, author of a recently published book on this very topic.
For many years, Dr. Elson was a senior staff member of the International Monetary Fund with responsibilities for managing its financial assistance programs and macroeconomic surveillance exercises with countries in the Asia Pacific and Latin American regions. He was also involved for a time in the oversight of the Fund’s global statistics operations. Since leaving the Fund, Dr. Elson has been a consultant with the World Bank and has taught at Duke, Johns Hopkins and Yale Universities
He has authored many books about economic and financial globalization: Governing Global Finance – The Evolution and Reform of the International Financial Architecture (2011); Globalization and Economic Development – Why East Asia Surged Ahead and Latin America Fell Behind (2013); The Global Financial Crisis in Retrospect – Evolution, Resolution and Lessons for Prevention (2017); The United States in the World Economy – Making Sense of Globalization (2019); and The Global Currency Power of the US Dollar – Problems and Prospects (2021).
